This Defense Documentation Center report (ADA068988) reproduces a paper Thomas E. Bearden prepared for the 1979 MUFON Annual Symposium. It carries a public-release distribution statement. Bearden is a retired Army lieutenant colonel and nuclear engineer. The paper proposes a speculative mind and matter model built on a claimed fourth law of logic and hyperspatial frames. It argues that the collective unconscious can materialize thought forms under Cold War stress, and it fits major UFO waves and U.S. cattle mutilations since 1973 into that model.

He is also a graduate of the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College and several U.s. Army artillery and missile schools, He has had direct experience with tub~ artillery and with the Ajax, Hercule~, Hawk, and Patriot missile systems and directed the production of technical intelligence on Soviet SAM systems for the U.S, Army/Department of Defense. Tom holds a Sandan (third degree black belt) in Yoseikan aikido; is a singer, guitarist, and songwriter; member of Mensa, Society for the Investigation o.L the Unexplained, Vestigia, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and is on tre Board of Governors of the American Association of Meta-Science, In addition, he is Alabama Director for the Association of Distinguished American Scientists ,,nd a member of the U.S, Psychotronics Association, He also edits Specula , Journal of the American Association of Meta-Science, Presently a MUFON Advisor on nuclear engineering, Lieutenant Colonel Bearden is primarily active as a theorist on UFOs, parapsychological and paranormal phenomena, and psychotronics.
