NZDF declassified RNZAF UFO files

NZDF / RNZAF via Internet Archive · 2010-12 · 445 pages · text by GLM-OCR

This is a New Zealand Defence Force public release of RNZAF file AIR 39/3/3, "Flying Saucers," which covers 1952 to 1955 and was declassified in September 2010 under the Official Information Act. It collects sighting reports from the public and military personnel, press clippings, and a table of 1952 sightings. It also holds Carter Observatory opinions attributing some reports to meteors. A large part covers the inquiry into lights seen from National Airways Corporation Flight 108 on 31 October 1955, which the RNZAF could not fully explain as Venus.

## Dear Mr. Dickq

It was indeed a pleasure receiving your letter of December 20 with its interesting contents. The newspaper report is good. It is also good to know that there are papers whose policies and personnel are big enough to carry such information, that their readers may be alerted to the reality of events taking place today. The more people who know of these facts, thereby overcoming their natural fear of that which they do not know or understand, the quicker close relationship can be established between Earth inhabitants and the people of other worlds, for the benefit of all.

You did an excellent job on making a replica of the Scout and it will serve well in the display window. Although INSIDE THE SPACE SHIPS, my next book, will not be published until early spring, you might find a couple of other new books already published in England of interest in keeping the people informed on this subject between now and then. These are FLYING SAUCER FROM MARS, by Cedric Allingham, published by Frederick Muller, London. This is a personal contact between a Britisher and a Man from Mars in Scotland Feb. 1954. The other SPACE, GRAVITY AND THE FLYING SAUCER, by Leonard Gramp, a British scientist, published by T. Werner Laurie, Ltd. London.

I note with interest your comment about the "staunch Church men who don't believe in these Space Ships" and feel that such information is not suitable for their paper. This very act proves also that they don't believe in God. It is only the egotism of a little mind who for one moment thinks that the Earth is the only inhabited and most intelligence expressing planet of the endless numbers existing in the vastness of the Father's infinite kingdom. I wonder what their interpretation is of Jesus' words, "In my Father's House are many manions". And even the most egotistical on Earth would not be so bold as to declare that life as we know it on Earth is being lived in its highest expressions. For Jesus himself came to teach us of brotherhood among men and the Fatherhood of God -- a lesson which we have not yet learned, though almost 2,000 years have passed since he gave that lesson to mankind on Earth, and in which we could have learned it. This same law is known and lived by those of other planets. That is why they are able to do many things which we cannot.

Now regarding the tapes. I like your plan and will do my best to make recordings of the most prevalent questions and answers on the subject, as well as other information of interest and return them to you without too great a delay. My machine is a Webcor; double track; speeds, $ 7 \frac{1}{2} $ and 3 3/4; and takes 1200 fb. reel. Our power is 60 cycle.

I shall enjoy hearing from you personally via the tape, and in this respect I understand that the customs on 'used' articles is much less than on new. Perhaps group conversations filling up all three of the tapes might put them in that category. I am not sure, but it may be a thought. I have been instructed to send lecture tapes to other countries marked "Used: Adamski lecture". So far I have sent none, but am getting prepared to do so by securing a second recorder so that I can make duplicates of tapes instead of repeating the same thing on a number of different tapes for several places. On the other hand, there might not be so much delay at the Customs office if the tapes are sent without too much on them, i.e. conversation on one, and the others blank and still sealed. You might inquire into this aspect.

My best wishes to you and all my friends in New Zealand. May 1950 be a good and happy year for all.

Sincerely ,
