NZDF declassified RNZAF UFO files

NZDF / RNZAF via Internet Archive · 2010-12 · 445 pages · text by OCR

This is a New Zealand Defence Force public release of RNZAF file AIR 39/3/3, "Flying Saucers," which covers 1952 to 1955 and was declassified in September 2010 under the Official Information Act. It collects sighting reports from the public and military personnel, press clippings, and a table of 1952 sightings. It also holds Carter Observatory opinions attributing some reports to meteors. A large part covers the inquiry into lights seen from National Airways Corporation Flight 108 on 31 October 1955, which the RNZAF could not fully explain as Venus.

6th. Nov 1955.

SEADOWN.

Also on the 4th of March 1955 at 2a.m. a Mr.C.Westaby and I saw a Flying Saucer very close to my home here in Seadown.

We have records of many sightings in these parts by reliable witnesses over the past 15 months. We have given the local newspapers many sightings and valuable information, BUT they do not consider it of enough importance to print. You will probably wonder why you have not heard of these things, but it is not because the newspapers have not been told of these matters. You will also find that the people who witness these sightings and have reported them to the papers, and the papers not taking any action in printing the stories, the people now are reluctant to report any new ones which they may witness.

Trusting you will be interested in this information in view of the pending enquiry.

With kind regards,

Yours Sincerely,

Encl. Two photostat copies of letters from Geo Adamski.
