This is a New Zealand Defence Force public release of RNZAF file AIR 39/3/3, "Flying Saucers," which covers 1952 to 1955 and was declassified in September 2010 under the Official Information Act. It collects sighting reports from the public and military personnel, press clippings, and a table of 1952 sightings. It also holds Carter Observatory opinions attributing some reports to meteors. A large part covers the inquiry into lights seen from National Airways Corporation Flight 108 on 31 October 1955, which the RNZAF could not fully explain as Venus.

# FLYING SAUCERS.
HAIFA: SAUCERS, THEN "CIGAR".
Two saucers, sailing first next to each other, then one above -tne-otner, were observed for three or four minutes over ht. Carmel 9.55 p.m. December 30tn, 1952, - says the "Jerusalem Post" in a report just received.
They took the form of "gleaming white discs" flying at about 30,000 to 40,000 feet, in a westerly direction, and finally they disappeared into the upper atmosphere.
The same paper reports several witnesses as having seen a CIGAR-shaped object between 4.5 and 4.12 p.m. on January 4th. The object was "fairly low" and moved with great speed. It had three bright lights: one at either end and one in the centre.
## BHITAIN'S SHARE.
Large, brilliant ball of fire with red streak of flame and sparks trailing in tail behind. Over West Derby at very low altitude, travelling swiftly and silently in N.W. direction. ("Liverpool Echo").
STREATHAM JANUARY.
INVERNESS:

Afternoon.
Orange ball flying across the sky. Disappeared, then re-appeared some minutes later travelling in same direction, (not given). Seen from Tooting also.
Grey, oval object, when it turned sideways was of a cigar-like snake. Disappeared twice, but came into view again, and darted back and forth with great rapidity (says Mr. GEORGE MACPHERSON, one of the observers, whom we welcome as a LIFE LEMBER). It was reported in the "Glasgow Herald" and "Greenock Telegraph".

"I have recently noticed in our local press that the Flying Saucer Investigation Committee has been formed; and as it is obvious from its composition that it is a well qualified group and not a "crack-pot" organisation, it is with confidence that I make the following report of objects sighted by me on Sunday last March 8th, 1953.
At 10 a.m. S.A. time I was in my radio workshop at the above address, which is approx 6 miles SSW of Adelaide, when a flight of Document, cited by the archive.
