This is a New Zealand Defence Force public release of RNZAF file AIR 39/3/3, "Flying Saucers," which covers 1952 to 1955 and was declassified in September 2010 under the Official Information Act. It collects sighting reports from the public and military personnel, press clippings, and a table of 1952 sightings. It also holds Carter Observatory opinions attributing some reports to meteors. A large part covers the inquiry into lights seen from National Airways Corporation Flight 108 on 31 October 1955, which the RNZAF could not fully explain as Venus.

# C.S.J. CURRENT DEVELOPMENTS Since posting out our May 6th news-bulletin, that presented to our readers C.S.I.'s new constitution and for the first time, an invitation to the public, inviting financial membership, many enquires and replies have been received. Today C.S.I. has a membership that is growing fast and threatens to grow faster. Many enquires are also being received following a large article in the "WEEKLY NEWS" July 7th issue, on C.S.I., activities. There is plenty of work in hand for our new assistant secretary Mrs Joy Yeldon. Membership Cards have been in print for some weeks now, it is hoped to be able to distribute them to in the near future. The cards are of two colour with a "Saucer" half-tone impression in the background. approximately a month ago the President of C.S.I. had the pleasure of meeting for the first time, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin Representatives, Branch leaders and associates. The visit was made possible by a special Air Force duty trip to Dunedin. Mr Fulton was the guest of Mr Metcalf, Pres., C.S.I. Dunedin group, whilst in Dunedin for a day, and Mrs E.E.Hanber C.S.I. Christchurch Representative and President "N.Z.Interplanetary Society", for 2/2 days. Mr Fulton reports that he had a most enjoyable and extremely interesting visit and wishes to sincerely thank all those concerned for the wonderful hospitality given him. Mr Fulton also had the pleasure of meeting the Editor of "Junior Digest", Mr Dunford, who, a tape recording of a long (made) interview. Mention of this appears in July issue of "Junior Digest" and the story of the interview is scheduled to appear in the August number. C.S.I. sends best regards and a warm welcome to all new members, two of whom have been recently elected to the committee. These are Mrs Joy Yeldon, appoin- ted assistant secretary and Mr Graham West. Committee meetings are held approx once a month as are intentions for general meetings. The first general meeting being scheduled for Tuesday 27th July at 40A Manukau Road, Tpson. Mrs Yeldon has kindly made her home available until a larger attendance demands a hall. Mrs Yeldon will answer phone enquiries on behalf of C.S.I. Phone 60CI4. ( best time 6pm evenings). The next issue will show list of members. Apologies are also due for the very late appearance of June issue of our official magazine "Flying Saucers". Absence on duty (Air Force) and many other contributing causes has prevented the editor and producer getting down to work, up to now he has handled all correspondence, research, lectures and numerous other C.S.I. considerations; also his place of duty is 22 miles from his home and headquarters.
