This is a 2021 US Nuclear Regulatory Commission response to FOIA request NRC-2021-000177 from John Greenewald, published by The Black Vault. The request sought UAP and UFO records collected since 1975. Only NRC Region I found responsive records. The release includes a 1984 request from Citizens Against UFO Secrecy about a reported July 14, 1984 boomerang-shaped object over the Indian Point nuclear plant, along with the NRC's reply that it had no such documents. It also contains 2015 NRC emails about an unidentified object seen near the Pilgrim plant.

Only Region I located responsive documents. We note that the NRC did receive a FOIA request back in 1984 seeking records and found none at that time; our office just processed a more recent request , NRC-2021-000172, for this same matter. The response to this request (which includes a copy of the record and response from 1984) is publicly available in ADAMS as ML 21179A019.
