Gemini VII Air-to-Ground Transcript Volume I: 5011500_VolumeI

· 341 pages · text by GLM-OCR

This is Volume I of III of the Gemini VII voice communications transcript, covering pages 1 to 337 and marked Confidential. It records air-to-ground, ground-to-air and on-board exchanges beginning at lift-off. Early passages cover staging, orbit insertion and stationkeeping with the booster, which the crew reports is venting heavily, and they photograph it. Later passages near 116 hours hold the crew's detailed descriptions of airglow, stars and a sunrise seen from orbit.

  • p. 148 …Clouds are about as represented, only white doesn't show in the photograph and the grays…
  • p. 332 …a little bit later of a greenish gray color. Would you agree, Frank? 116:03:11…

## CONFIDENTIAL

116:08:19	P	No. No, there's cloudiness breaking up in there someplace.
116:08:21	C	And there is some green coming in. Either end of the little wedge. You see the green coming in at the edges?
116:08:28	P	Yes. Yes, there is! There's a little green at the bottom there.
116:08:33	C	Right.
116:08:35	P	Right. And now there's a deep red, a deep red over on one side. How far over does it go on your side, Frank?
116:08:43	C	You know, now it's patchy. We have it because the clouds are breaking it up and obscuring it.
116:08:47	P	Yes. You think that's where the sun's going to come in?
116:08:52	C	I hope it is.
116:09:14	C	Now you notice there's a bright star rising. I can't identify that star. See it off to the left there?
116:09:19	P	Don't see it just yet.
116:09:21	P	Definitely see the clouds now.
116:09:22	C	Yes.
116:09:23	C	This wedge is getting bigger and bigger. Now you get almost a 3-D effect, like a cave - like looking into a cave where the mouth is red, the top is yellow and then the exterior part of it is blue.
116:09:33	P	Yes.
116:09:35	P	There's still a definite band, though, above the yellow and red that is, that separates the blue from the reddish.
116:09:47	C	Yes, it is; sort of a mustard color.
