Gemini VII Air-to-Ground Transcript Volume I: 5011500_VolumeI

· 341 pages · text by GLM-OCR

This is Volume I of III of the Gemini VII voice communications transcript, covering pages 1 to 337 and marked Confidential. It records air-to-ground, ground-to-air and on-board exchanges beginning at lift-off. Early passages cover staging, orbit insertion and stationkeeping with the booster, which the crew reports is venting heavily, and they photograph it. Later passages near 116 hours hold the crew's detailed descriptions of airglow, stars and a sunrise seen from orbit.

  • p. 148 …Clouds are about as represented, only white doesn't show in the photograph and the grays…
  • p. 332 …a little bit later of a greenish gray color. Would you agree, Frank? 116:03:11…

## CONFIDENTIAL

115:08:09	CC	Roger. I copied Gemini VII, Jim.
115:08:12	CC	Jim, we'd like to ask if you are - if this cabin temperature is comfortable for you in your present configuration or if you are also feeling somewhat warm?
115:08:25	P	I am at times plenty warm. It's 78 in the cabin and a comfortable temperature would be more like 72. However, I'm perfectly dry, much more free of freedom of movement, and certainly just as cool as I'd ever be in a suit.
115:08:43	CC	Roger.
115:08:47	C	Flight, I opened this Cabin Heat control now to FULL-COOL and the suit temperature's gone up about another half a degree since I did that.
115:08:55	CC	Roger. We concur. You can turn it back down.
115:09:04	CC	Frank, we are - as I said - we are working on the suit situation to accumulate further data. We would like to ask for Jim to put his suit back on and you to take yours off. Over.
115:09:22	P	Roger. I would prefer to leave it this way if you don't mind.
115:09:29	C	... be able to get back in and he's a lot bigger. Why do you want him to change?
115:09:36	CC	Roger, Gemini VII. The purpose was to accumulate more information on the suit situation. We have your input. If you are able to change suits, we can delete the cabin temperature survey at 115:40.
115:09:57	C	Okay. I would prefer - if we have to keep one suit on - I would prefer to have me keep my suit on and let Jim the way he is.
115:10:06	CC	Roger. We copy, Gemini VII. We will discuss it more with you at a later pass.
115:10:13	C	Roger. I also would like to go to two-suit compressors here if this keeps going up.
