This is Volume I of III of the Gemini VII voice communications transcript, covering pages 1 to 337 and marked Confidential. It records air-to-ground, ground-to-air and on-board exchanges beginning at lift-off. Early passages cover staging, orbit insertion and stationkeeping with the booster, which the crew reports is venting heavily, and they photograph it. Later passages near 116 hours hold the crew's detailed descriptions of airglow, stars and a sunrise seen from orbit.

## CONFIDENTIAL 43:12:52 C O₂. 43:12:54 CC Okay. Here is the test procedure we would like you to run on it. Turn photometer on at sunset plus 10 minutes. Aline on any bright star and calibrate. Release button and track star for 30 seconds. This is just to check on the instrument. It does not have to be a star going over the horizon. Do you copy? 43:13:41 C Roger. We've already tried this but we'll try it again. 43:13:44 CC Roger. The only thing that seems to make any sense to us, Frank, is that you may have gotten it saturated. Sometimes it causes it to not work properly. You have to be careful not to let it see any light. We think even the fuel cell's light might be enough to saturate it. 43:14:02 C Okay. 43:14:05 CC Would you switch Quantity Read to FUEL CELL H₂? 43:14:08 C Roger. 43:14:11 CC Okay. Next update: 45:32:00; crew status report on the Pilot. That's at Carnarvon. 46:14:00: GO/NO-GO at Texas. 46:20:10: Sequence 02; transponder test; pitch 30 degrees down, yaw 17 degrees left; transponder on at 46:10:00. Copy so far? 43:15:10 C Roger. Go ahead. 43:15:12 CC D-4/D-7: 46:51:40; Sequence 413 plus 414; Mode 02. Time: 47:08:00; purge fuel cells. You can turn the Quantity Read switch off now. 43:15:46 C I don't think I heard you on D-4/D-7 paragraph. D-4/D-7: 46... 43:15:53 CC Roger. The time was 46:51:40; Sequence 413 plus 414; Mode 02.
