This unclassified briefing from the Department of Defense's All-Domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) is dated February 2024 and was reviewed for release in 2025. It defines unidentified anomalous phenomena and sets out AARO's mission and vision. It also describes its operations, science and technology, analysis and strategic communications functions. It reports that only a very small percentage of UAP reports show anomalous signatures and that missing data leaves many cases unresolved. It also presents three example cases, including two resolved as commercial airliners with camera artifacts.
UNCLASSIFIED ALL-DOMAIN ANOMALY RESOLUTION OFFICE (AARO) 3UNCLASSIFIED MISSION, VISION, & FUNCTION MISSION: Minimize technical and intelligence surprise by synchronizing scientific, intelligence and operational detection, identification, attribution, and mitigation of unidentified, anomalous objects in the vicinity of national security areas. VISION: Unidentified, anomalous objects are effectively and efficiently detected, tracked, analyzed, and managed by way of normalized DoD, IC, and civil business practices; by adherence to the highest scientific and intelligence-tradecraft standards; and with greater transparency and shared awareness.
