This Federal Aviation Administration record, released by the Department of Transportation in 2023, is a preliminary FAA operations report dated February 18, 2023. It says that at 0400 Eastern time, Indianapolis Air Route Traffic Control Center relayed a report from Spirit 128, an A20N flying from LAX to BWI. The crew saw an unidentified aerial phenomenon with blinking lights off their left side at FL350 while flying eastbound at FL370, about 50 miles west of the Charleston, West Virginia VOR. No evasive action was taken.
