This Federal Aviation Administration Skywatch Incident Report, released in 2023 under the Department of Transportation, records a closed unidentified aerial phenomenon report dated July 27, 2024. The crew of EJA627, a commercial C68A flying from MMU to BCT, was southwest bound at 40,000 feet, 20 nautical miles northeast of ILM. They reported a white or metallic cylindrical object near the aircraft at about 38,000 feet. The object was not seen on the air traffic control facility's radar.
