This Federal Aviation Administration Skywatch incident report, released in 2023 by the Department of Transportation, records an unidentified aerial phenomenon reported on 21 January 2024. A commercial LJ40 flight from Van Nuys to Tucson, climbing southeast to FL410 about 10 nautical miles northwest of Palm Springs, saw a bright light ahead that turned and at times hung stationary well above the aircraft. No evasive action was needed, and air traffic control radar did not detect the object.
