This Federal Aviation Administration Skywatch incident report from 2023 is filed under the code unidentified aerial phenomenon and is marked closed. It covers American Airlines flight AAL116, a Boeing 777 flying from Kahului (OGG) to Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW), reported through Los Angeles Center on May 1, 2023. Flying northeast at 37,000 feet, the crew saw alternating flashing lights off the left side, about 10,000 feet above the aircraft and moving in the same direction. The report says six to eight low Earth orbit satellites were in the area.
