This is a Federal Aviation Administration Skywatch incident report, released in 2023, about an event on March 2, 2023. The crew of RJA264 was a commercial Boeing 787-8 flying from Chicago O'Hare to OJAI, and the report was handled by Chicago Center (ZAU). While climbing northbound at FL180, 25 nautical miles north of O'Hare, the crew saw bright white lights off the left side between 14,000 feet and FL180. They said it was not a drone. No law enforcement was notified, and the report is closed.
