This is a Federal Aviation Administration Skywatch incident report dated March 2, 2023, filed through the Kansas City (MCI) facility and marked closed. It records a report from the Excelsior Springs Police Department of a very large grey object with white lights about 2.5 nautical miles northwest of airport 3EX. According to the report, the object stayed in one place, very high up, for over an hour. The pilot of flight FFT647 was asked to look and said the lights were probably space junk or satellites.
SKYWATCH INCIDENT REPORT PRIMARY CODE: UNIDENTIFIED AERIAL PHENOMENON Date: 01:40 03/02/2023 Status: Closed POD: DEN Reporting Facility: MCI Paged: NO REMARKS Excelsior Springs PD, who observed and reported an unidentified aerial phenomenon 2.5 NM NW of 3EX. The unknown phenomenon was very large and grey with white lights. The object was reported as stationary for over an hour and very high in altitude. 0219 ATSC requsted FFT647, who was in the area, to provide a report.
