This 1970 USAF Office of Information file from the 21st Air Division at Hancock Field, Syracuse, collects community relations correspondence. It includes Enrico Grimaldi's report of faint star-like objects seen over Commack, Long Island on November 21, 1970, and Major Francis C. Moriarty's reply. The reply notes that Project Blue Book ended December 17, 1969, so the Air Force would not investigate. The file also holds a draft article on NORAD and SAGE, survey requests, thank-you letters and press tour messages.

Williams Commander, 21 Air Division Dear George Planning is now underway for the Eighteenth National Security Forum to be held at the Air War College. Tentatively, this year's forum is set for the second week in May 1971. Seventy-two distinguished civilian leaders (American citizens) will be invited to participate with the students of the college. Last year's forum was an outstanding success according to the commander of the Air University. Comments received from the guests showed that the time they spent contributed substantially to their better understanding of our national security problems and the role of the armed forces in our society. Major air commanders have been asked to nominate prominent men and women who are interested in problems of our society and our national security. Since the forum's value is dependent upon the calibre of the guests, the nominees should represent the broadest possible cross section, with responsible representatives from all professions such as education, law, industry and religion; and, it is hoped, with greater representation from the news media, labor, minority groups and local, state and federal governments. In addition this year, special emphasis is being placed on youth. Nominees are to be chosen to assure the maximum exchange of diverse ideas and experiences between the guests and the Air War College students. The guests are to contribute to, and benefit from, the forum. I have been urged to give ADC's nominations careful personal attention, and I would request that you give your personal attention to two nominees from your command. Since only twenty-five per cent of those nominated can be invited, nominees should not be informed that their names were submitted until after final selections have been made. You will be advised which of your nominees are being invited and at that time you may contact them and urge them to attend. A prerequisite for guest attendance is authorization to receive classified information up to and including SECRET; therefore, data on the attached biographical forms are needed. If these forms could be completed and returned to us no later than 5 Aug 1970, we will be able to meet our submission date to the Chief of Staff, General Ryan. Sincerely H. A.
