This 1970 USAF Office of Information file from the 21st Air Division at Hancock Field, Syracuse, collects community relations correspondence. It includes Enrico Grimaldi's report of faint star-like objects seen over Commack, Long Island on November 21, 1970, and Major Francis C. Moriarty's reply. The reply notes that Project Blue Book ended December 17, 1969, so the Air Force would not investigate. The file also holds a draft article on NORAD and SAGE, survey requests, thank-you letters and press tour messages.

Morris, Executive Director ## 18 August 1970 Department of the Air Force Hancock Field Thompson Road North Syracuse, New York 13212 Dear Sir: Central New York's Regional Planning and Development Board's Technical Advisory Committee on Crime Control (CRIMETAC) is, as you may be aware, recognized by the State as the official agency for regional planning in crime prevention, law enforcement, and criminal justice in the Central New York Region. RPDB CRIMETAC has hired Syracuse University Research Corporation (SURC) to produce an inventory identifying all the agencies and organizations involved in, or related to, crime control activities in the five counties of Cayuga, Cortland, Madison, Onondaga, and Oswego, and to identify their resources. We are contacting you in the thought that your resources even though not directly part of the "criminal justice system" should be taken into consideration since they could have applicability in special or emergency situations. Naturally, your replies to this questionnaire in no way commit you or your agency to anything. The information you provide will be kept confidential and will not be released in any manner to identify you without your express written permission. It is essential that CRIMETAC have complete basic information on the total resources of the area in order to plan and take action to improve the effectiveness of the region's crime-control activities. The inventory, once completed, will be available to all concerned agencies to assist them. Its success, however, depends upon your cooperation with SURC, which we have asked to deal with you directly in their project. Our aim is to discover the agencies and their resources. The questions cannot, of course, include all of the possible variations of available information. As a result, we ask that you do not feel restricted by our questionnaire. If you have further reports, form samples, organization and operations charts, etc., they would be most welcome. We are, however, particularly interested in numbers of personnel, and any special capabilities of your organization.
