This is a Headquarters Continental Air Command Air Adjutant General central file, number 471.6 ("Guided Missiles"), opened 1 July 1952. It holds transmittal letters and endorsements for UFO reports sent to the Air Technical Intelligence Center and the Director of Intelligence. They include a 10 December 1952 Report of Unidentified Celestial Object from the 2500th Air Base Wing at Mitchel AFB, a July 1952 report from a Long Beach, California squadron, and a letter from Russell E. Smith of Dallas, Texas.

Reference TWX 0410, this headquarters, dated 24 July 1952. Provisions of paragraph 7e(2), Air Force Letter 200-5, cannot be complied with inasmuch as a follow-up investigation of incident disclosed that source of report could not verify his previous statements which appeared to be possible fabrications, hallucinations, and hearsay. Corroborating witnesses were also reluctant to make any statement describing what had occurred which invalidates the reliability of original report. 2. This information is submitted in letter form due to the non-avail- ability of Air Force Form 112 at this installation. These forms have been placed on order and will be utilized in future Reports of Unidentified Flying Objects.
