Dr. Greer is married to Emily Kramer Greer, an Occupational Therapist and the mother
of their four lovely daughters. He is an avid bicyclist and hiker, and enjoys renovating
historic buildings with his family.
Dr. Greer has extensive experience in health education, stress management training, and
emergency and family medicine. A strong believer in holistic medicine that treats the
body, mind and spirit, Greer promotes the compiimentarv nature of many approaches
to health and healing through education and patient care. To facilitate those goals, in
1988 he established the Shambala Institute, a non-profit health care and educational
organization in Asheville.
In 1990, he founded the Center for the Studv of Extraterrestrial Intelligence (CSETI), a
non-profit organization, dedicated to the further understanding of Extraterrestrial
biological entities (or EBEs). Today he is the International Director of CSETI, overseeing
world wide Working Group research and diplomatic teams comprised of world citizens.
Dr. Steven M. Greer is Chairman of the Department of Emergency Medicine at a hospital
in North Carolina. He received his M.D. degree from East Tennessee State University
(ETSU) College of Medicine and is a member of Alpha Omega .Alpha (AOA), the
nation's most prestigious medical honor society. He was born in Charlotte, N.C., in 1955.
Greer has lived, worked and studied in the Caribbean, Europe and Israel. He was
trained as a Transcendental Meditation teacher in 1975, and served as the Director of the
International Meditation Society in Bahamas in 1976. He is active in the Baha'i Faith and
served at its world headquarters in Haifa, Israel 1978-80.
