This release contains White House Exchange Mail records dated January 1998 to October 1999. Most of it is a transcript of a January 29, 1998 press briefing by Press Secretary Mike McCurry covering Iraq, Iran, the budget and the Lewinsky inquiry, plus a 1998 presidential speech. An October 19, 1999 email among Transnational Threats staff forwards a Florida Today article on how scientists expect alien contact would spark a media frenzy rather than a cover-up, describing the 1989 SETI detection protocol.

Today was a kickoff for that second part, the elevating the Social Securi
challenge, and doing so through education, through creating public and
political
pressure for action, and through a careful effort to try to keep this debatt
balanced and bipartisan during this time period, so there truly is the
capability
for the type of bipartisan atmosphere next year that will allow us to have
chance of getting Social Security reform completed.
MR. SPERLING: He will. The President will attend the first forum in
Kansas
City. And we are doing outreach and hope that members of the Republic
leadership and the Democratic leadership would also attend. The Speakc

interactive teleconference in 10 cities. And the President will go there ai
