This Clinton Presidential Library release is a folder of White House email records dated September 27, 1995 to November 25, 1998, filed under the subject heading UFO, Flying Saucer, Flying Object. It holds forwarded news items: a molester who posed as a space alien, Hillary Clinton comparing the Whitewater probe to a UFO obsession, a report on Philip Corso's Roswell book, a satirical Mars Air Force story, and a Swissair report of a near miss with an unidentified object. Withdrawal sheets show that two pager messages were redacted for personal privacy.

Strom Thurmond (R-SC). Pocket Books is publishing retired Col. Philip Corso's book, "The Day After Roswell: A Former Pentagon Official Reveals the U.S. Government's Shocking UFO Cover-Up." The book argues that technology from the supposed UFO crash contributed to the development of computer chips, the laser and fiber optics. Its cover "trumpets Thurmond's complimentary foreword." A Thurmond aide said the author's request for a foreword "only described the book as Corso's personal memoirs and did not reveal its focus on aliens and UFOs." Corso, who worked for Thurmond in 60's and 70's "writes that as a Pentagon official in the early 1960s, he inherited a cabinet full of Roswell debris and eventually helped disseminate the pieces to defense contractors" (6/4) .
