This Clinton Presidential Library FOIA release (2006-0474-F) holds a folder titled [UFO] from the Agency Liaison records. It contains 1996 letters that members of the public, including students, sent to President Clinton asking about UFOs, a cover-up and the 1947 Roswell incident. NASA public affairs official Laurie Boeder replied on July 17, 1996 that no government agency investigates UFOs. The replies enclosed a February 1996 NASA fact sheet on Project Blue Book, the Condon study and SETI.

Arterburn, American Citizen Field 2 = Dear President Clinton: I am asking you as a proud American Naval Submarine Veteran and a citizen of the United States to lead the way in calling for a full and complete disclosure by all government & military agencies of all records relating to area of Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs). A giant government cover-up has been taking place for the past 50 years. A good place to start is with the U.S. Air Force and the Roswell incident in 1947. Even the military officers in charge at the time have now admitted that a UFO did crash in Arizona and that a cover-up was ordered from the highest levels. We the people have a right to know about UFOs and related subjects. I have been an investigator of UFO’s since 1957. I held a security clearance in the Navy aboard Polaris submarines and worked on Nuclear Warheads. I understand the purpose of national security, security clearances and "Need to Know". The UFO situation is real, will not go away, and sooner or later will be investigated by congress No one has the right to keep this information from the people - It transcends normal technical security know-how. NO - not the generals, the admirals, the congress, not even the President has a right to keep information of such great importance from the people. So - I beseech you as one American to another --- Please push and force the issue for the release of this information. You have stated and demonstrated already that you do not believe in the shroud of government secrecy that has existed for so long. It is time to make a change Mr. President. * From (b)(6) Wed May 29 23:45:51 1996 Date: Wed, 29 May 1996 23:44:46 -0400 Subject: White House Forum E-Mail To: president@WhiteHouse.GOV Message-id:
