This Gerald R. Ford Library folder of Ford Congressional Papers holds material from Ford's broadcasts in 1965 and 1966. It contains correspondence with WJR station manager James H. Quello and drafts of Ford's June 1965 "Your Government" radio report on congressional imbalance, Vietnam and Cuba, along with budget remarks. It also includes Ford's March 25, 1966 on-air statement calling for a congressional investigation of UFO sightings near Ann Arbor, Michigan, a Great Society documentary script and a Meet the Press transcript with Indira Gandhi.

MR. GRIPPIN: That's absolutely right, Jerry. You know earlier this year,

W. Allan Wallis, President of the University of Rochester and a former member of the President's Council of Economic Advisors, made this statement: "Inflation can only be generated by the government. Business firms, labor unions, consumers with excessive market power can do many objectionable things that are contrary to the public interest; but one objectionable thing they cannot do is to cause inflation—or, for that matter, prevent it."

X wonder if your opponent in the November 8 election agrees with that statement. Or would he, like Mr. Johnson, blame the housewife, the farmer, industry and labor for the sharp rise in the cost of living.

Mr. Gyrffzel Jerry, I think inflation has caught up with Mr. Johnson and with Mr. Williams. The unfortunate part is that it's the American people who are picking up the tab.

Mr. PORE! Bob, I think the people of Michigan vote to bring down high prices. I believe they vote for responsible government on November 8.
