This Gerald R. Ford Library folder of Ford Congressional Papers holds material from Ford's broadcasts in 1965 and 1966. It contains correspondence with WJR station manager James H. Quello and drafts of Ford's June 1965 "Your Government" radio report on congressional imbalance, Vietnam and Cuba, along with budget remarks. It also includes Ford's March 25, 1966 on-air statement calling for a congressional investigation of UFO sightings near Ann Arbor, Michigan, a Great Society documentary script and a Meet the Press transcript with Indira Gandhi.

INFLATION--the steady and continuing rise in prices--is rubbing

Michigan's citizens of their wage point. Here are two distinguished members of Congress--United States Senator Robert P. Griffin and Rep. Gerald R. Pond of the Fifth Congressional District to talk about this most pressing problem with you.

MR. GRITTIE: Bob, I am most happy to have you with us on this program.

you are keenly aware of problems affecting the whole state of Michigan.

MR. GRITTIE: Jerry, certainly the problem that is most on the minds of all the people of Michigan, except for Vietnam, is inflation. My supermarket survey of housewives established that. I found they are most unhappy about high prices.

That answer came through loud and clear.

Mr. PIDD: Bob, the most fantastic statements I have heard a Johnson Administration official make in recent weeks were the remarks of Labor Secretary Willard Wirta before the AFL-CIO Committee on Political Education Convention in Detroit on Sept. 28. He actually had the nerve to stand before that audience and tell these people we don't rely have inflation today—that inflation is just something Republicans are talking about in their speeches.

Mr. GRIFFITH: Boy, Michigan housewives would really straighten Mr. Wirtz out if they had the chance and they will have that chance on Election Day. They know
