Mr. SCHWEIVKER. Do I understand that you said none of the unex-
plained objects have been sighted on radar?
Major QtINTANILLA. No, sir; I said 1.5 percent.
Mr. SCHWEIKER. No, the first question he asked you was, have any
of the unexplained objects been sighted on radar. Thought you said
"No" to that just a couple of mites ago.
MajorQUINTANLJLA. That is correct. We haveffi radarcases which
are unexplained.

Let's go back to the story Mr. Bates was talking ab0lit, Exeter, N.H.,
the one Mr. Fuller hIas written about in several magazines.
I understand this is an unexplained sightihg on your part, is that
correct?

Mr. SCHWEIKER. He specifically says in his story-and I quote his
words now-
Confidential comments made to me by the Coast Guardsmen and military in
the area support the laymen's testimony and confirm the reports of radar sight-
ings and scrambling by jet fighters from Pease Air Force Base.
Major QtIINTANILLA. No, sir' that is not correct. We hfave no
radar information on that sighting. No jet fighters were scrambled.
Mr. SCIWEIKER. Let me ask Vfu this: In thd Pease Air Force Base,
you had an investigating by Mitjor Griffin, and a Lieutenant Brant, is
that correct?
Major QUINTANILLA. Sir? .
Mr. SCHWETIKER. In the situation at. Exeter, N.H., did you have a
report filed to ydu folks by Major Griffin andWiAletnan t Brant?
Major QTYN'TANILLA. Yes, sir; we did.
Mr. SCHVEIKER. Could we have copies oftlteir raw report?
Major QUINTAXILLA. Yes, sir; you _fmay.
Mr. SOJIWEIKER. What were tieir conclusions?
Major QUINTANILLA. They couldn't explain it.

Mr. SCHWEiVKR~n. They made no mention of planes scrambliig from
Pease Air Force Base?
Major QUINTANILLA. There were aircilaft in the area on reolhly
schec6dled1hissi ns, but they were not scrambled forthe purpose of
observing the repotted UFO's.
Secretary BnowN. Two of my staff have pointed out to me, Mr.
Schweiker, that Pease AFB has no fighters; it, is a SAC bomber base,
and is not a fighter base.
