Internet Archive (Paul Galante) · 2018-04-22 · 286 pages · text from the file's own layer

This Internet Archive upload by Paul Galante reproduces the FBI's 2017 FOIA release to John Greenewald Jr. of The Black Vault about George Adamski. The release contains 281 previously processed pages. It includes 1954 Detroit field office memoranda on the Flying Saucer Club of Detroit, on informants who worried that its anti-hydrogen-bomb messages were political propaganda, and on a July 1954 meeting presided over by Adamski. Later items cover Joseph Perry's 1960 Grand Blanc saucer photograph, which was passed to the Air Force, and a 1960 Detroit sighting report.

acting as the tail and wagging the horse. It seems that John
Hoffman is against the group meetings. r~. Frank. -~ Schuster
a leader (3022 Chalmers, Det. 15.)of fore~gn ~r remar ea
before Marxer etc. arrived that Hoffman was agai ·st these
meetings (private) because it seems they (Saucer Club) h~
been accus~ed of subversive activities in these meetings~He
said the ~ersons that start these rumers should be dealt with
in person-? When Marxer arrived this talk was reviewed and she
samd that was not the reason at all, but rather, the feeling
that has come about pertaining to the religious angle. Hoffman
thought this would be bad publicity and something should be
done about it. As you know I was impressed during Schuster's
oration (about 10 minutes without interruption) and tried to
look bored. ·
I have been told and I dontt know how good the authority
is that Maday used to be a preacher for some church. Last night
he sure sounded like it, his philosophical religious triump•s
p~ed forth elequently. He quoted from the Catholic., Jew, Prot-
-estant and Agnostic.
Vfuile the discussion was on the subject of the groups be-
ing accused of being subversive Maday had this to say. At work
a cohort had told him t~at there was some talk of the gR~
Saucer Club being communistic. This of course made Maday very
mad. The cohort said he did'nt believe it was true but the very
thought of it and having Maday associated with it did not. 'make
him feel very good. He, the cohort, also said on~ of the Board
member WAS a member of the Communist Party. Maday· denied this
this way. He said he would not mention the mans name or the
cohorts but he would vouch for the accused due to the fact that
he had lmow his (accused) Father had been very active in the
Republican Party last year here in Detroit. He told the cohort
that this accuser should see Maday immediately or shut his mouth
on these false accusations. He s ·aid of course mt was true that
Fellow Travelers could infiltrate into the Discussion Groups and
he did 1nt know how they could handle such a thing if it did come
about. Another thing he mentioned at another time was that Ric.
Wilkinson had moved to Detroit. {Vlilkinson was th~ speaker at
several public meetings in the past).
Although my thought last night was the double talk was lack-
ing, the undercurrent was still there. The people·, with a few ex-
ceptions were a peculiar lot, most of foreign birth· and sharp.
You can't tell people by their facial expressions. I have concludr
ed that this IS a subversi~ organization OR a new religious . group
