T-1~ who bas furnished reliable information
in the past 9 and who is well acquainted with the activities of'
the DFSC 9 advised that this club was sponsoring an adventure
film and speech by JOHN D. CRAIG on February 18, 1955~ at the
l-lasomc· Temple 9 Detroi tj) Michigan. The film is entitled
nAtoms and Atollso"
Informant stated that many people connected
with the DFSC objecteq to sponsorship of this movie and talk
inasmuch as it had nothing to do with flying sa:uc~rso

The February 23, 1955, issue of "The Detroi'J;
Times". Final Red Line Edition, page 21, column 5, contains an
article stating that ~ccording to Dr. WALTER R. DORNBERGER,
missile specialist f'o~ B~ll Aircraft Corporation of' Buffalo
and a developer of the G&r.man V-2 Rocket, stated that ninety-
two percent of the flying · saucers are nothing more than
meteorological condit:T,onso DO~NBERGER stated "If' saucers were
real they would cause shock waves but no such waves have been
recordedo" ·
The Feb+"Ua.ry 23, 1955~ issue of "The Detroit
.Free Press 9 11 another daily Detroit newspaper, in its Metro
Fi:na1 Edi tion 9 page 38., columns 7 anq 8, contained similar
comments regarding Dro DORNBERGER, who a~dr~ssed the ,/·1
Engineering So~iety of' Detro~t.
On March 5; 1955, T-1 advised that he ·is ot
the op~~on · there is nothing of a subver~ive nature connected
with the DFSCo T-1 st1:1ted that some of' 'fjhe programs put on
under the sponsorship pf the DFSC have actually been ideas ·of
HENRY MADAY, its Presi~ent, possibly for one or two reasons
or ·both; The first is·to gain prestige for MADAY and the
second to obtain moneyo
Thit:l informant advised that there is dissen-
sion and squ~bbling between the officers of the DFSC. T-1
stated.. that LA'Q'RA MARJQ5R, Vice President of the Club~ who was
considered inactive, w~s showing a movie in adjacent cities to
the Detroit area but that this was not successful.( .
T-1 stated that JOHN HOFFMAN, another office:tt- . .
was dissatisfied over MAPAY and his sche~es as well as over
moneyo Informant stat~d that a group leader in the club~ one
ED ANDREWS9 had accused HOFFMAN of not allowing the books to be
shown at one of their business meetings.
