Chicago Lost, ·Doctor Insists
CHICAGO - (U.P.) - Dr.
Charles Laughead, who pre-
dicts the en dof the world by
1955, said Monday a last-
minute check with informants
in outer space has "confirmed"
that tidal waves and earth-
quakes'will engulf Chicago and
the Midwest Tuesday.
Dec. 21 is the day Laughead
ex'pects massive upheavals :iri
the Central United States; and
perhaps on the East and West
coasts.

A forecaster said no tidal
waves were expected, but that
"we don't have any friends in
outer space."
Chicagoans generally also
appeared unaware of impend-
ing doom as they went abo.nt
their Ch1istmas shopping.
LAUGHEA.D, 44: ·year· old
physician who lost a $10,000-
year job at the Michigan State
College Hospital for his pre-
dictions, said he had "no de-
tails" on. exactly what time or
where the upheavals would
take place.
But he assumes the tidal
wave will be on Lake Michi·
gan since there is no other
large body of water near Chi-
cago.
The Windy City is supposed
to catch the brunt -of destruc-
tion, whiqh Laugllead sees as
the forerwmer to the complete
wreclta,ge of the world next
year. ~.
He has credited the predic-~
tions to Mrs. Dorothy Martin,
53, who says she is in comuni-
cation with "connoiters" in
i· outer space who can foretell

' Laughead said Mrs. Martin
i made the 11th-hour check with
the connoiters and learned
there has been no change in
plans for Tuesday.
