This FAA memorandum from Quentin J. Gates, Air Traffic Manager at the Anchorage Air Route Traffic Control Center, is dated January 9, 1987. Military radar notes intermittent primary returns. United Airlines Flight 69 and a military C-130 are vectored to look, but neither sees any other aircraft near the 747.
