This Federal Bureau of Investigation file section collects 1949 Army intelligence reports of unidentified aerial objects seen around Camp Hood, Texas, forwarded by the San Antonio office, which told the Director it was reviewing and destroying such reports unless they held FBI interest. It also has 1957 FBI liaison memoranda on a radar-tracked object near Montauk Point and Benton, Pennsylvania, judged unlikely to be a Soviet operation. The file also includes a civilian Flying Saucer Researchers release arguing that saucers probably come from Mars.

SPOT INTELLIGENCE REPORT SUBJECT: Unidentified Flying Objects TO : District Commander 8th District OBI Marvell AFB, Ala. In compliance with AFCSI Ltr. No. 85, dtd 23 Oct 50 and AFOIC-CC-1 ltr. dtd 8 Sep 50 the following report is submitted on a sighting of an unidentified flying object by Ridge, Tennessee: 1. Description - The object observed by changed shapes rapidly from pear shape to bean shape and to other shapes as noted on enclosed drawing. The object was light gray in color with a core that was a much darker gray. The object appeared to be translucent. The mass of the object was constant and had sharply outlined edges and the core also had definite lines. Speed could not be estimated but was described as "rapid and darting". The object maneuvered within an area of a circle as illustrated on the enclosure. Further described the core as assuming the shape of the whole object, that is, when the object elongated the core would be elongated also. The object disappeared while attempting to locate a witness to the phenomena. No sound could be heard nor could the means of propulsion be determined. Made on-the-spot notes of his observation. Pertinent of these are as follows: "rapidly changing shape. Constant mass. Sharply outlined edges. Gray color, cool in contrast with warm, pinkish gray of clouds. No spectral reflection of light, no bright highlights. Definite suggestion of form. Movements rapid, darting in all directions within small area. Seemed to be moving in and out of cloud (this may have been because of semi-transparent characteristics.) Must be some phenomena of light on clouds. Very weird. Movements did not seem to be result of wind. First impression - balloon, too rapid and random in movements. Too rapid and extreme in changes of shape." 2. Time Sighted - For five (5) to ten (10) minutes on 5 November 1950 at 1155 hours. ## 3. Manner of observation - Visual 2. Location of observer - At the corner of Oak Ridge, Tennessee. The object appeared to be near a mountain ridge about six (6) miles distant. The object was on a compass bearing of 30 degrees. The altitude of the object remained within a short distance above
