This Federal Bureau of Investigation file section collects 1949 Army intelligence reports of unidentified aerial objects seen around Camp Hood, Texas, forwarded by the San Antonio office, which told the Director it was reviewing and destroying such reports unless they held FBI interest. It also has 1957 FBI liaison memoranda on a radar-tracked object near Montauk Point and Benton, Pennsylvania, judged unlikely to be a Soviet operation. The file also includes a civilian Flying Saucer Researchers release arguing that saucers probably come from Mars.

38 FEB. 16 1953. BNING. MYRTLE BEACH, SOUTH AROLINA. 33 $ _{4}^{30} $ , 78 $ _{4}^{30} $ . An unidentified object or light flow inland at an altitude of 1,000 feet, and was observed by 3 people.
#39 FEB. 16 1953. 10:55 P.M. BUDBURY, ONTARIO, CANADA. 461 $ 81 $ . A fiery red object with dark or silvery edges grow larger, and then shrank, appearing as a solid silvery ball when disappearing.
40 FEB. 19 1953. 2:00 P.M. WILLETS, CALIFORNIA. $ 3 9 ^ {\circ} $ $ 1 2 3 ^ {\circ} $ saucer at great altitude crossed sky with tremendous speed.
#41 FEB. 20 1953. Midnight. BARASOTA, FLORIDA. 27 $ ^{\circ} $ , 82 $ ^{\circ} $ . A glowing light in the sky changed colors, from red to white to blue, as it darted about at great speed, then stopping momentarily for a full half hour. (COMMENT: The object appears to be one of the colored light signal saucers discussed previously, if description of its movements is correct. If it only seemed to move, it may have been a star seen under rare weather conditions, although other stars were not seen to shine or 'move'.)
#42 FEB. 217 1953. Daytime. Near MAGNOLIA, ARKANSAS. $ 3 3 \frac{1}{2} $ , $ 9 3 \frac{1}{2} $ . An object resembling a burning airplane with a smoking engine resulted in a 4 1/2 hour search, no wreckage found, nor aircraft missing. (COMMENT: This is similar to other reports of 'burning airplanes' reported after a meteors passage, however daytime meteors are extremely rare. Barring possibility this was a planes vapor trail, or jet, object is mysterious and may be somehow connected with the saucers.
43 FEB. 21 1953. Evening. STURGEON BAY, WISCONSIN. $ 4 4 _ {\pi} ^ {3 0}, 8 7 _ {\pi} ^ {3 0} $ An object carrying red, green and white lights, blinked at intervals, like a beacon in the sky. (COMMENT: This also may be a signal saucer)
# 44 FEB. 22 1953. Morning. WILLETS, CALIFORNIA. $ 3 9 \frac {1}{2} ^ {\circ} $ $ 1 2 3 \frac {1}{2} ^ {\circ} $ . A saucer at great height crossed sky with tremendous speed. (See Feb. 19 rept)
#45 FEB. 22 1953. 3:30 P.M. ERIE, PENNSYLVANIA. $ 4 2 _ {8} ^ {1 0}, 8 0 ^ {\circ} $ . A large, shiny or silver chrome saucer, possibly 150 feet in diameter, moved very slowly and noiselessly toward Cleveland for 5 to 8 minutes. (COMMENT: Any saucer report over 1 minute, is very unusual. This may possibly have been a large weather balloon, under inflated at low altitude, although it should not have appeared Silver-chrome and brightly reflecting the sun.)
46 FEB. 22 1953. 4:00 P.M. CONNEACUT, OKIO. 42 $ ^{0} $ , 80 $ ^{0} $ . A spherical object, silvery or aluminum in color, shone brightly as it headed slowly over Lake Erie at 1500 foot altitude. (COMMENT: This seems to back belief object seen at nearby Erie, Pa. 30 minutes before was a balloon, now inflated to a sphere at a greater height.)
FEB. 22 1953. Very late Evening. FAIRPORT, OHIO. 4120, 8120. A brilliant ball of light, apparent size of a silver dollar, slowly disappeared over the lake. (COMMENT: If precise time were known, this object could be identified. If it was just after sundown, it could have been sunlight shining against a balloon. If several hours after sundown, balloon would be invisible since it had no lights, and it would have been a balloon.)
48 FEB. 23 1953. 7:00 A.M. BEAUVAI8, FRANCE. $ 4 9 1 ^ {\circ} $ , $ 2 ^ {\circ} $ . A large, luminous pink, bowlike object (flattened sphere), flew over terrain horizontally for 40 seconds. then rose vertically several seconds. FOIA release, from the fbi-vault collection.
