This Federal Bureau of Investigation file section collects 1949 Army intelligence reports of unidentified aerial objects seen around Camp Hood, Texas, forwarded by the San Antonio office, which told the Director it was reviewing and destroying such reports unless they held FBI interest. It also has 1957 FBI liaison memoranda on a radar-tracked object near Montauk Point and Benton, Pennsylvania, judged unlikely to be a Soviet operation. The file also includes a civilian Flying Saucer Researchers release arguing that saucers probably come from Mars.

Federal Bureau of Investigation Pennsylvania and 9th Washington DC NW Gentlemen; I have been printing an amateur magazine for several years on the Flying saucers for a small group. Recently, a New York City subscriber has expressed a great interest in starting a separate group primarily for meetings and discussions of the subject, and I have supplied a listing of active and inactive persons from my files in NYC and New Jersey, as I do not have to contact them myself. The idea impresses me as a good one for a public information center but considering the importance of the subject, I feel it will attract unwanted members, possibly subversives. My chief basis for this was the mention of several subversive groups working in this field, mentioned by columns of Robert S. Allen and Dorothy Kilgallen, both generally informe on governmental matters. I am therefore sending you a duplicate list of persons we have contact and would appreciate your checking these for the above reasons. This is purely a request for information, as I have no concrete facts for or against them in any way. I realize your work is primarily with other government bureaus, however the importance of this subject would tend to place it of the usual run of civilian matters. Attached is some literature describing my own past work for inquirin newspapers, and some sample magazine. All information I have come solely from newspapers and eyewitnesses, and I have none, nor claim any governm contacts, or sources. This is my own request only, and if I do not receive your reply in the next 2 weeks, I will assume this to mean there is nothing of consequence reply, and will state this to the group.
