FBI file: UFO, UFO Part 16

Federal Bureau of Investigation · 169 pages · text by OCR

This Federal Bureau of Investigation file section collects 1949 Army intelligence reports of unidentified aerial objects seen around Camp Hood, Texas, forwarded by the San Antonio office, which told the Director it was reviewing and destroying such reports unless they held FBI interest. It also has 1957 FBI liaison memoranda on a radar-tracked object near Montauk Point and Benton, Pennsylvania, judged unlikely to be a Soviet operation. The file also includes a civilian Flying Saucer Researchers release arguing that saucers probably come from Mars.

UNIDENTIFIED FLYING OBJECT SEPTEMBER 22, 1961, IN VIGINITY OF WASHINGTON, D. C.

On September 22, 1961, Howard University, Washington, D. C., advised this Bureau that between 2:00 a.m. and 2:25 a.m., on September 22, 1961, he had observed a light which he felt could be a flying disc. He explained that the light which was in the East seemed to change colors and to ascend and descend. He discounted the possibility that the light was from an aircraft or was a falling star.

The above information was furnished to Captain Department of the Air Force, at 2:30 a.m., September 22, 1901, by Special Agent of this Bureau. We are taking no further action with respect to this matter.
