FBI file: UFO, UFO Part 14

Federal Bureau of Investigation · 141 pages · text by OCR

This FBI file release, Part 14 of the Bureau's UFO file, collects correspondence and memoranda from 1960 to 1968. Much of it concerns Joseph Perry of Grand Blanc, Michigan, whose moon photograph appeared to show a saucer-like object. The FBI passed the slides to Air Force OSI at Selfridge AFB and said repeatedly that it was not investigating. The file also covers a Denver lecture about space people, an anonymous Dallas informant, a NICAP subcommittee, and form replies stating that UFOs fall outside FBI jurisdiction.

RE: FLYING SAUCERS

Neither Agents Handbook nor manuals contain instructions regarding handling of reports of sightings of unidentified flying objects although policy has been well established by above Bureau bulletins and SAC Letters and no problems have arisen in connection with this matter. Air Force has on several occasions assured that Bureau will be advised of any developments of interest to us. Last such assurance given 11-12-57 (62-83894-367).

Our liaison with Air Force on this matter is with OSI although within Air Force this matter is handled by Air Technical and Intelligence Center, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio.

## ACTIC:

For your information. There appears to be no necessity for further instructions to the field or insertions in the Handbook or manuals at this time.
