This FBI file release, Part 14 of the Bureau's UFO file, collects correspondence and memoranda from 1960 to 1968. Much of it concerns Joseph Perry of Grand Blanc, Michigan, whose moon photograph appeared to show a saucer-like object. The FBI passed the slides to Air Force OSI at Selfridge AFB and said repeatedly that it was not investigating. The file also covers a Denver lecture about space people, an anonymous Dallas informant, a NICAP subcommittee, and form replies stating that UFOs fall outside FBI jurisdiction.

Office of Special Investigations Air Force that we do not gather evidence concerning unidentified flying objects for the Department of the Air Force, although any information volunteered is, of course, accepted; and that the photograph mentioned in the "Detroit Times" article was not examined by the FBI Laboratory or anyone else for FBI purposes. Mr. was further advised that this Bureau furnished two photographs obtained from Joseph Perry to a representative of the Department of the Air Force for whatever action was deemed appropriate by that agency. On March 31, 1960, the Department of Justice furnished this Bureau a letter dated March 21, 1960, from Joseph F. Perry, directed to the President. This letter had been referred to the Department of Justice by the White House. A copy of this letter is enclosed. Our Detroit Office will contact Perry and advise him that his letter directed to the President has been referred to this Bureau; that the photographs in question were furnished to the Office of Special Investigations, Department of the Air Force, Selfridge Air Force Base, Mount Clemens, Michigan; and that a copy of his letter to the President has been furnished to you. Enclosures - 2 ## NOTE FOR SAC, DETROIT: Enclosed is copy of letter from Perry to the President. Assure that Perry is contacted immediately and advised that his letter to the President was referred to us by the Department of Justice which had received it from the White House and you are acknowledging receipt thereof. Point out to Perry that the contents of his letter have been carefully noted and for his information the photographs he voluntarily turned over to agents of your office were immediately furnished to the Office of Special Investigations, Department of the Air Force, Selfridge Air Force Base, Mount Clemens, Michigan.
