FBI file: UFO, UFO Part 14

This FBI file release, Part 14 of the Bureau's UFO file, collects correspondence and memoranda from 1960 to 1968. Much of it concerns Joseph Perry of Grand Blanc, Michigan, whose moon photograph appeared to show a saucer-like object. The FBI passed the slides to Air Force OSI at Selfridge AFB and said repeatedly that it was not investigating. The file also covers a Denver lecture about space people, an anonymous Dallas informant, a NICAP subcommittee, and form replies stating that UFOs fall outside FBI jurisdiction.

UNIDENTIFIED FLYING OBJECT JOSEPH PERRY, GRAND BLANC, MICHIGAN - COMPLAINANT MISCELLANEOUS - INFORMATION CONCERNING (NATIONAL INTELLIGENCE)

Re Bureau letter to Office of Special Investigation, Air Force, dated April 6, 1960, and Detroit airtel to Bureau, dated 4/11/60.

On April 12, 1960, JOSEPH PERRY, 3079 Edwards Street, Grand Blanc, Michigan, was personally contacted at his home by SA and SA

He was advised that his letter to President EISENHOWER dated March 21, 1959, had been referred to the FBI by the Department of Justice and that the FBI was acknowledging receipt of that letter.

Mr. PERRY was advised that the contents of his letter had been carefully noted and that for his information the photographs he had voluntarily turned over to the FBI had been immediately furnished to the Office of Special Investigations, Department of the Air Force, Selfridge Air Force Base, Mt. Clemens, Michigan; further, that the Department of the Air Force had been furnished a copy of his letter to the President.

Mr. PERRY was advised that the FBI was taking no investigative action in this matter and he said he was fully aware of the Bureau's policies in matters of this nature.

Mr. PERRY expressed his appreciation for the cooperation of the FBI.
