This FBI file release, Part 14 of the Bureau's UFO file, collects correspondence and memoranda from 1960 to 1968. Much of it concerns Joseph Perry of Grand Blanc, Michigan, whose moon photograph appeared to show a saucer-like object. The FBI passed the slides to Air Force OSI at Selfridge AFB and said repeatedly that it was not investigating. The file also covers a Denver lecture about space people, an anonymous Dallas informant, a NICAP subcommittee, and form replies stating that UFOs fall outside FBI jurisdiction.

Date: 5/20/60 Transmit the following in AIRMAIL (Priority or Method of Mailing) TO : Director, FBI FROM: SAC, Detroit (65-2677) UNIDENTIFIED FLYING OBJECT; JOSEPH PERRY, GRAND BLANC, MICHIGAN - COMPLAINANT (NATIONALITIES INTELLIGENCE) ReBulet to Office of Special Investigations, Air Force, dated 4/21/60. Enclosed herewith are 5 copies of a letterhead memo explaining a telephone call from the "Detroit Times" at Detroit, Mich., to the Flint, Mich., Resident Agency on 5/20/60. It is noted that the Flint RA immediately advised Detroit upon receipt of this call from of the ASAC in turn immediately contacted to determine the extent of his inquiry of our RA and it was determined he had merely had a call from referred to in letterhead memo, and by inference, had stated it was his understanding that the FBI Agents in Flint had previously "snatched" the 2 photos from JOSEPH PERRY. stated he knew that the FBI did not operate that way and inasmuch as he was doing a research on his morgue files he wanted to clarify this information. s attention was directed to a previous contact by the Detroit Office with the " at the time the incident occurred and it was reiterated to this that the FBI did not investigate this case and does not investigate 3 - Bureau (Encls. - 5) 1 - Detroit AGENCY OSI
