This FBI file section contains a 20 January 1953 letter from the Johnson County, Indiana civil defense office asking J. Edgar Hoover whether the International Flying Saucer Bureau was subversive, with an enclosed issue of its bulletin Space Review. It also holds 1956 FBI memoranda and letters to Air Force investigators on a Van Nuys landing claim, a bright light seen from Oxford, Pennsylvania, and a low spinning object seen near Henderson, North Carolina. In each case the FBI took no action.

CORDED - 119 Mr. Mauston, Wisconsin Your letter dated August 1, 1952, has been received, and I appreciate the interest which promoted your bringing your observations to my attention. Inasmuch as the matter of the flying saucers is being investigated by the United States Air Force, I am taking the liberty of forwarding a copy of your letter to the Director of Special Investigations, The Inspector General, Department of the Air Force, The Pentagon Washington, D. C. If you have further observations along this line, I would suggest that you may wish to communicate directly with him.
