This FBI file section contains a 20 January 1953 letter from the Johnson County, Indiana civil defense office asking J. Edgar Hoover whether the International Flying Saucer Bureau was subversive, with an enclosed issue of its bulletin Space Review. It also holds 1956 FBI memoranda and letters to Air Force investigators on a Van Nuys landing claim, a bright light seen from Oxford, Pennsylvania, and a low spinning object seen near Henderson, North Carolina. In each case the FBI took no action.

Office Memorandum . UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT TO : A. H. BELVONI DATE: August 28, 1953 SUBJECT: FLYING DISCS PURPOSE: To advise all Supervisors engaged on night duty of instructions concerning the referral of flying disc information to OSI. BACKGROUND: Captain OSI, 4th Air Force Base, Bowling Field, has requested that any information concerning the sighting of flying discs (saucers, etc.) be telephonically furnished immediately to his office, day or night, by dialling Code 1261, and asking for Extension 509. Captain advised the Air Force is greatly concerned about the captioned matter, and would appreciate the Bureau's cooperation in immediately advising of details received concerning such complaints.
