This FBI file section contains a 20 January 1953 letter from the Johnson County, Indiana civil defense office asking J. Edgar Hoover whether the International Flying Saucer Bureau was subversive, with an enclosed issue of its bulletin Space Review. It also holds 1956 FBI memoranda and letters to Air Force investigators on a Van Nuys landing claim, a bright light seen from Oxford, Pennsylvania, and a low spinning object seen near Henderson, North Carolina. In each case the FBI took no action.

Since the contents of your communication are of primary concern to another governmental agency, I am taking the liberty of forwarding a copy of your letter and a copy of its enclosure to the Director of Special Investigations, The Inspector General, Department of the Air Force, Building Tempo E, Fourth and Adams Drive, Southwest, Washington, D. C.

NOTE: Bufiles reflect that a citizen in Richmond, Virginia, received a similar letter earlier this year from the Aerial Phenomena Research Group of the same type forwarded by correspondent. OSI at Langley Field, Virginia, made a copy of it available to the Bureau. (62-83894-372) No other pertinent references located. Copies of incoming and its enclosure sent to OSI by form.
