This part of the Federal Bureau of Investigation's UFO file collects FBI and Air Force correspondence from about 1950 to 1953. It includes an Air Force OSI district summary of aerial phenomena in New Mexico from December 1948 to May 1950, which reports that green fireballs occurred near sensitive installations and remained unexplained. It also holds a 1950 sighting of an orange sphere by a New Haven chemical engineer, a report from jet pilots near Fairbanks, a Los Alamos reporting form, and 1953 memos on sighting tips that the FBI passed on without investigating.

Mackinac Island, Michigan RESEARCH - CRIME RECORDS ReBulct dated 7-9-53. Ohio, advised he is cognizant of a "flying saucer" report made by Mr. Circleville, Ohio. According to Mr. reported that a saucer-shaped object had landed on his farm some time ago, and this report eventually reached local newspapers. In June, 1953, an individual discussed the matter with Mr. advised that this person did not, to his knowledge, represent himself to be an FBI Agent. The further declared that he has known all his life and that he is a prosperous, well-respected local farmer, who is considered trustworthy. at which time he stated that shortly after he received some publicity regarding his report of sighting a saucer-shaped object, he was visited by one who gave his address as Tri-Village Station, Columbus, Ohio. According to Mr. told him he was a salesman of television antennas, and that for over six years he had been pursuing the hobby of investigating "flying saucer" reports. He emphasized that he had no official connection with any part of the Government, but stated that he had once been "checked" by the FBI. Mr. declared that he showed him pictures of "flying saucers" and told him he was writing a book on the subject, which would be published soon.
