This Federal Bureau of Investigation file section collects 1949 and 1952 memoranda and public letters about flying saucers. Letters from citizens offering theories were acknowledged and forwarded to the Air Force, and Hoover passed along a report of objects over Thessalon Lake, Ontario, along with an anonymous German letter about a V-weapon disc. An Air Intelligence briefing said research had reached no satisfactory conclusion. Memos also trace how the negatives of a 1947 Phoenix disc photograph were handed to Air Force Intelligence.

UNUSUAL FLASHES DURING ELECTRICAL STORM, JERSEY SHORE, PA. JULY 28, 1952

telephonically advised that in the early morning of 7-28-52, during a severe electrical storm in the area of his residence, he had observed seven unusual flashes in the sky, each flash being accompanied by a loud report.

Complainant, who appeared to be under the influence of intoxicants, called as a result of recent newspaper stories regarding phenomena allegedly observed during past week in this country.

Bureau indices contain no information identifiable with the complainant.
