This Federal Bureau of Investigation file section collects 1949 and 1952 memoranda and public letters about flying saucers. Letters from citizens offering theories were acknowledged and forwarded to the Air Force, and Hoover passed along a report of objects over Thessalon Lake, Ontario, along with an anonymous German letter about a V-weapon disc. An Air Intelligence briefing said research had reached no satisfactory conclusion. Memos also trace how the negatives of a 1947 Phoenix disc photograph were handed to Air Force Intelligence.

## Dear Sir: I have been hearing so much about the objects called Flying Saucers that I begin to speculate as to whether we are the only Nation or county to witness such a display. Of course it could be that those odd objects are pest filled Radqr controlled waiting to be punctured. We have been so accused by another Nation that no doubt they have devised some diabolical plan to test on us. I am not inclined to pass those over lightly,because I believe that those gadgets can be made and controlled to the extent of great numbers in groupings. Also, I believe it is very unwise to make public the locations of sightings as many folk are prone to worry, and a state of mind like this is exactly what our enemy is seeking. Any one wise enuf to perfect such would not only know their travel distance but also their location,therefore no talk or publications could benefit us in that. I hope that someone has had the integrity and foresight to learn where if in any other country these 'things' have been seen.
