This Federal Bureau of Investigation file section collects 1947 to 1949 correspondence, memoranda and newspaper clippings about flying disc reports. It includes Hoover's replies to citizens, a Maine woman's account of a drifting object judged probably a weather balloon, a Richmond memo on a cigar-shaped object seen over Radford, Virginia on May 12, 1949, clippings on the Chiles and Whitted sighting near Montgomery, a Flyin' Saucer toy promotion, and agent interviews with witnesses in Vermont and a pilot near Bethel, Alaska.

At these crosses so that it would present the appearance of a carmlen maricnette, constantly heluiling to me, with two glasses, the middle appeared sometimes lean shaped but that may well be a defect in my eyesight, as its object was it then very distant.

At last it disappeared from sight entirely. As we had no guess at its altitude we could not guess its size although I would hazard the statement that it seemed cut about its usual altitude of passing planes and seemed to fade canary much as a plane would, but far more slowly.
