This Federal Bureau of Investigation file section collects 1947 to 1949 correspondence, memoranda and newspaper clippings about flying disc reports. It includes Hoover's replies to citizens, a Maine woman's account of a drifting object judged probably a weather balloon, a Richmond memo on a cigar-shaped object seen over Radford, Virginia on May 12, 1949, clippings on the Chiles and Whitted sighting near Montgomery, a Flyin' Saucer toy promotion, and agent interviews with witnesses in Vermont and a pilot near Bethel, Alaska.

supposed to the rocket lift . No! Mr. Knowe this was told me in 1944 or 43 . At the time I wrote it all down and never thought any more of it until later . And maybe I am foolish but I thought maybe this tried something to do with the flying saucers , if true . I am a true American and lost my country and if I can do any service for my country I am glad of it . The flying sauces could be more dangerous than we think .
