This Federal Bureau of Investigation file section collects 1947 to 1949 correspondence, memoranda and newspaper clippings about flying disc reports. It includes Hoover's replies to citizens, a Maine woman's account of a drifting object judged probably a weather balloon, a Richmond memo on a cigar-shaped object seen over Radford, Virginia on May 12, 1949, clippings on the Chiles and Whitted sighting near Montgomery, a Flyin' Saucer toy promotion, and agent interviews with witnesses in Vermont and a pilot near Bethel, Alaska.

Office Memorandum . UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT TO : Director, FBI DATE: November 1, 1947 FROM : SAC, Albany Reurlot dated 9/25/47. An Agent of this office contacted Mr. C. at his residence in South Royalton, Vermont and he stated that all the information he has concerning the flying disos he saw, is set forth in the letter that he sent to the Bureau dated September 17, 1947. Mr. advised that as far as he knows, no one else in South Royalton saw these flying discs, and that he believes he saw them inasmuch as he has unusually good eyesight and that he can see bees, etc. further than anyone else. He stated that possibly these flying discs were out of the range of normal vision. Mr. was asked to furnish any additional information that comes to his attention concerning these flying discs directly to the Air Forces since they now handle matters of this type.
