This Federal Bureau of Investigation file section collects 1947 to 1949 correspondence, memoranda and newspaper clippings about flying disc reports. It includes Hoover's replies to citizens, a Maine woman's account of a drifting object judged probably a weather balloon, a Richmond memo on a cigar-shaped object seen over Radford, Virginia on May 12, 1949, clippings on the Chiles and Whitted sighting near Montgomery, a Flyin' Saucer toy promotion, and agent interviews with witnesses in Vermont and a pilot near Bethel, Alaska.

( one office in Washington , D.C. ) ; my letter was printed under the heading of " 7 by Saucer Witness " ( page 167 ). Here is a copy of Sure: I have just finished reading the October issue of " Amazing Stories " , in which you ask for " flying saucer " information. Here is what I know: 0 m June 28, 1947, at 3:43 P.M. my brother saw the flying saucer - about seven ten of them - which flew directly over our house. He said they went like " blue blazes " - didn't make any movie and were heading approximately 50 ( Rockfield , where my brother's farm be , is just 16 miles northwest of Milwaukee ). But what is really strange is that same afternoon the discs were seen over Illinois ( they must have been the same tree ). This information was given on June 29th - Sunday - over W & N. " The latest news " at 8 to 8:15 A.M. with Charles Lebastin. He reported that the discs had been sighted over Illinois the preceding afternoon . Perhaps the information is valuable to you. At easy rate please keep this confident 0 our neighbors think we're slightly " guess " have seen the discs. ( I didn't see them but I believe my brother .) it have been following the Sharer
