This is part five of the FBI's UFO file, a set of Bureau memoranda and reports from 1947 to 1949. Most of it covers the FBI's inquiry into the Maury Island flying disc story in Tacoma, which concluded that the disc fragments were ordinary rock formations and that the story was a hoax. It also examines the fatal crash of a B-25 at Kelso and finds no sign of sabotage. The file includes other items: the Rhodes disc photographs, a proposed flying saucer convention in Alexandria, Louisiana, and ash from a fire near Scranton that someone suggested came from a flying saucer.

It could not be determined at the time whether Garold A. Dahl, the subject in question, and Garold Dahl of the FBI indices, was one and the same. 5. had indicated to et al. that he was former fighter pilot and hold commission as Captain in the Air Reserve. ANISTON'S NOTE: On 6 August 47, this officer checked the records of the 406th AAF BF(RT) and determined that was registered with that Reserve Unit as Captain, with residence at Tacona, Washington, Primary 1913 and 1963. In 1942 he was with the Criminal Investigation Division, State of Washington, and previously had been an oil technician with the Union Pacific Railway. Entered the service in 1942 as an enlisted man and served as such for seventeen months. In 1943 he was nominated on graduation from flying school and served a total of twenty-nine months. A check of the Tacona city directory was made on which indicated his home was at Tacona, telephone. Business address was listed as telephone: ## RECOMMENDATION: 1. That no further investigation be undertaken on this specific incident by Army Air Force personnel. 2. That in view of the reported statements by Mr. Crisvan, that consideration be given to revoke his Air Reserve commission and flying status as an undesirable and unreliable officer. ## 8 Incls: 1.
