This is part five of the FBI's UFO file, a set of Bureau memoranda and reports from 1947 to 1949. Most of it covers the FBI's inquiry into the Maury Island flying disc story in Tacoma, which concluded that the disc fragments were ordinary rock formations and that the story was a hoax. It also examines the fatal crash of a B-25 at Kelso and finds no sign of sabotage. The file includes other items: the Rhodes disc photographs, a proposed flying saucer convention in Alexandria, Louisiana, and ash from a fire near Scranton that someone suggested came from a flying saucer.

## C flattened similar to a deflated automobile innertube. They were judged by be approximately 100 feet across with a 25 foot opening in the center. The outer edge of the object had round portholes and the inner ring had square windows or portholes. The disks were silent and from his viewpoint he could see no means of propulsion. One of these disks appeared to falter and waver in the air, another these aforementioned five disks dropped down close to the disc that appeared to waver and bumped it, dumping "tons" of the stuff as pictured in inclosure 3 to 7 on his boat, knocking off the handrail, horn, and generally damaging the boat to the extent of $200.00, and killing the dog. AFTER'T NOTE This officer, in the company of Major Gender, boarded the afternoon tioned boat where it was docked in the Iacoma harbor on 6 Aug 47. A hand rail was missing, but the area where the land rail was previously fastened had been painted over with several coats of paint and was cracked by the weather. The deck and roof of the cabin was of a very thin construction and the cabin further had glass on front and sides. It is this officer's opinion that if any of the objects present by as samples of the material dropped by the flying disc had hit this boat, would have certainly been necessary to replace the foredeck and the cabin roof. These two areas were very heavily coated with several coats of paint and had deep weather cracks that would take several months to acquire. 66 who owns the boat and operated evidently visited the area at Boury Island to check story. He is supposed to have stated that he found the material that he presented to La Brown and Capt Davidson in a sand pit near where the incident was supposed to have occurred. While he, was at the noone of the incident, a flying dies out of the clouds and behaved in a similar manner as the ones previously described ASSELL'S NOTE: The witnessing on two occasions, in broad daylight, of an object so large and clearly visible within several miles of the city of Incoma certainly should have been seen and reported on by other than a check was made of the newspapers on and after 81 June and no mention could be found of a mysterious object appearing over the Incoma harbor. it supposed to have sent samples of the objects that he picked up in the Eury Island and pit to a friend of him at the University of Chicago for an analysis report. He is reported to have not resolved the analysis report. It is possible that the reference Inclosure 1 and 2 might have come across this incident through the University of Chicago. The interrogation of by St. Trojan was completed about midnight on 31 July/1 August. St. Freem and Capt. Widson returned to NaChord Field and prepared for a night flight to Hamilton Field.
